Wish You Were Here: France

France

I bid adieu to the states and began a love affair with Paris, the city I dreamed about visiting for so long. Standing in front of the iconic landmark I have seen on vintage posters, T-shirts, and as a supporting role in countless romantic movies, showed me why they refer to Paris as the ‘City of Light.’

I stayed in the village of Montmartre, an artsy, bohemian part of town that houses the Sacré Coeur, the Moulin Rouge, and near Parc Monceau. Food is always thoughtfully presented, whether it is something as simple as a sandwich or as complicated as duck a l’orange.

Chocolate brought the expression ‘bon appetite’ to a whole new level. It’s not just “candy”, but rather a dessert for the senses.
122 The Parisian style is very sophisticated and there is no place where this is easier to see than when riding the metro. Dark colors are everywhere—black and greys, with touches of blues and purples. The men wear tall, slick hairstyles that are sometimes hidden under a properly angled fedora. They exude effortless style that is both vintage and timeless.

The women enjoy designer shoes and handbags, dress pants or pencil skirts, with femininely cut blouses and sweaters. By keeping their style simple they can embrace the latest style craze: black patterned tights. Lace, fishnet, striped and scalloped designs are fashion staples on the street and truly sexify any strut.

Paris was everything I imagined it to be, from the culture, the food and of course- the fashion. Bon voyage, indeed.
